J.P. Morgan Nasdaq Equity Premium Income ETF (JEPQ) Description

J.P. Morgan Nasdaq Equity Premium Income ETF (JEPQ) aims to seek current dividend income while maintaining the prospects for price appreciation tied to the Nasdaq-100 Index.

The fund holds stocks in the Nasdaq-100 index and sells covered calls against the index via equity-linked notes. The ETF maintains approximately an 80/20 stock-to-ELN ratio.

The fund seeks to achieve its objective by (1) creating an actively managed portfolio of equity securities comprised significantly of those included in the fund’s primary benchmark, the Nasdaq-100 Index® (the Benchmark), and (2) through equity-linked notes (ELNs), selling call options with exposure to the Benchmark. It is non-diversified.

Visit the J.P. Morgan website for the latest authoritative information about the ETF.

JEPQ Dividend – Conclusion

JEPQ is a popular investment for dividend-seeking investors and retirees looking for higher yields (10%+) that total market funds, standard index funds, and dividend-focused ETFs cannot match.

The fund holds stocks in the Nasdaq-100 and sells covered calls to generate monthly dividend payments to investors.

JEPQ is a high-risk investment because managers allocate a high percentage of capital to the top ten stocks — nearly 50%.

Therefore, we consider the JEPQ to hold significant concentration risk. Some investors may consider the risk to be tolerable for the higher yield.

Furthermore, the hybrid strategy deployed in the ETF is untested in a volatile market. Significant downside volatility could impact the JEPQ dividend yield and returns.

Active investors who own individual stocks can supplement their research with tools such as the Sure Dividend Newsletter, which offers subscribers ten dividend growth stock picks to subscribers every month.

Research multiple dividend ETFs before choosing in which to invest. Before investing, review the JEPQ dividend history, current JEPQ dividend yield, and JEPQ top holdings. Past payments history and ETF performance are not indicative of future results.
